Restaurants in Prince George are looking for some fresh new faces as the industry heads back towards normalcy.

Two places that have put out the help wanted sign are the Black Clover Pub and the Twisted Cork.

Owner, Troy McKenzie stated with establishments allowed to serve alcohol until midnight once again, the demand for workers is sky-high.

“You have recreated yourself so many different ways just trying to get any kind of revenue stream and as we get closer to heading back to normal what we intended for these businesses to look like is exciting but I would be lying if I said the last 18 months were not challenging.”

“Having the right amount of staff is important and as we get back to normal business and add the things that make the business what it is. It is key to have the people to support that.”

McKenzie mentioned anyone looking to get their foot in the door will need to get their Serving It Right or Food Safe certifications before being hired on.

“We are hiring at both places. We had a good group that returned so we have enough people to get it done but as we expand our hours, times that are open we are going to need more people.”

The BC Restaurant and Food Services Association estimate the industry is short between 35 to 45,000 front- and back-of-the-house positions.
