The police action caught another 83 drivers behaving badly Friday night.

Included in the Friday wrapup were six stunt-drivers:

• King Edward/Cathcart — G2 going 84km in a 40km/h area;

• King Edward/St-Andrew — 88km in a 40km/h area;

• Heron/Riverside — G2 going 110km in a 60km/h area;

• and three at a hotspot at Bronson/Brewer — 120km, 111km and 110km all in a 60km/h area.

The Heron Road offender was a 17-year-old G2 driver.

As of July 1, stunt driving charges apply in Ontario any time a driver is travelling 40 km/h or more above a posted speed limit of 80 km/h or less. The roadside penalty for stunt-driving is now a seven-day licence suspension and a 14-day vehicle impound. Further penalties are possible in court.

Other tickets issued on Friday night included 53 speeding offences, nine muffler/unnecessary noise (one of the original targets of the program) and one case of red and blue light to the front of the vehicle.

The traffic unit was to be back out on area roadways Saturday night.

Adblock test (Why?)
