The musical personalizes SpongeBob with real-life problems and scenarios, differing from the cartoon. A number of famous artists also wrote songs for the show, so there will be something for everyone.
“There’s a song by Aerosmith, there’s a song by David Bowie, there’s a song by Cyndi Lauper, there’s a song by Panic at the Disco and Sarah Burrell. Every song has its own vibe and genre. There’s a little bit of something for everybody,” says Mika.
The musical includes a cast of 41 members with 23 crew members.
Mika says the students have been working hard on the project and wants the community to come out and enjoy what the students have created in the last four months.
“Some of these students lost out on getting to do one or two musicals over the last year and a half, so watching them come alive on the stage this past week has just been an amazing feeling. I would love for our community to come join and celebrate and these students finally getting to share their art with everyone.”
Tickets for the show are available on the NPCC website and box office.
