It was still too early to know exactly how much money was raised but firefighters praised supporters from St. Marys and the surrounding area Saturday afternoon as they handed out boxes of food and craft beer from Joe’s Diner and Broken Rail Brewing.
“We appreciate the town,” deputy fire Chief Brent Dundas said. “All the guys enjoy supporting the community and they’re really supportive of us, so it’s nice to give back to them.”
The St. Marys Fire Department came up with the drive-thru fundraiser during the pandemic when its more traditional events had been postponed.
The $25 dinners were sold in advance, with proceeds going towards various local charities and causes the department supports.
