OTTAWA—The federal government is planning a new “industrial strategy” to help tackle Canada’s housing crisis that will include more foreign workers and support for the mass production of homes in factories, says Housing Minister Sean Fraser.
The strategy is part of a suite of measures Fraser outlined in broad strokes at a news conference in Ottawa on Monday, where he hinted at new federal spending and programs to address the country’s persistent lack of affordable housing ahead of the Liberal government’s fall fiscal update, which is expected in November.
